We made it! It’s been a long 26 hours, but we are finally here. It was an exciting trip- much more so than we would have liked. We got to the airport in Seattle, and Deb realized that she couldn’t find her small black bag that she uses as a purse. We generally don’t travel with it, so it wasn’t part of our mental checklist as we got out of the Lyft. Was it packed in one of our main bags? We checked with the desk, and they said it would take at least an hour to retrieve our checked bags, and at that point we would run the risk of not getting the bags checked back in and make it through security to our gate. We decided to not recall the bags, and headed towards the lounge to think things over. Halfway there, I realized that we could use location tracking to see Deb’s phone. (we share our location with each other now that we are on the road full time) We saw that the phone was in a shopping mall parking lot, but when we checked later it was on the move. We figured that it was still in the Lyft, so did what we could to contact the driver. We finally got hold of him, and he (slowly) worked the phone back to us, presumably picking up fares along the way. But we got the bag in time, and the rest of the trip was much less stressful!

We had a few hour layover in Fiji, and had access to the lounge since our new credit card has that as a perk. So we had a quiet, comfortable space to hang out, along with good food and drink. Deb even got a quick shower. Then back on the plane, and off to Auckland. Picked up the rental car, reminded myself to stay on the left side of the road, and off to our first place.

Christchurch, hedgehog
And this little guy was wandering around one day as we took a long walk. Not very shy, he got within about 10 feet of us before heading off.
