We stayed at the Glentanner Holiday resort on the North side of Lake Pukaki, about 20 minutes from Mount Cook. The day we arrived we drove up to see the Tasman Lake and Glacier, shown above. This is the largest glacier in New Zealand. We went on the Blue lakes walk, and the Moraine walk. Both easy walks, the Moraine is the more interesting of the two.

The next day we hiked the Hooker Lake track up to the Hooker Glacier.

Hooker & Mueller Glaciers
Mt Cooke, Kea Point Track
Another day it was the Kea Point Track, unfortunately, no Keas. The track was nice, although we weren’t sure if we were seeing the Mueller Glacier under all the glacial sediment or not. Deb decided to hang out in the sun, while Tim continued on up the Sealy Tarns track lookout. An easy trail, as long as you like stairs! Roughly 500 meters of stairs to the lookout, but it’s worth it as you can see in the view above. The Mueller Glacier is hiding around the left, with the Hooker Glacier in the distance.

We also tried the Red Tarns track, another track that is mostly stairs. The track starts in the town, which you can see behind us. We met a South Korean music teacher at the top and had a nice conversation with her. She sang a Korean aria for us, which was a treat.
